The National Academy of Education will award twenty fellows $25,000 each to “strengthen and stimulate the field of adolescent literacy by infusing it with highly talented, well-trained, and motivated researchers and teacher educators.” Fellows may use the stipend for proposals, research, and training aimed at improving literacy for middle and secondary school students.
This is a great opportunity to further your own educational goals while helping adolescent readers succeed. And if you use audiobooks in your classroom or school, you already know the value of using diverse teaching strategies to meet the needs of today’s students. Submit a proposal and find out more at http://www.naeducation.org. Entries must be postmarked by December 1, 2007.
