One Green Apple, a beginning reader book by Eve Bunting, recently won the Arab American National Museum Book Award. The story of a young Arab girl who goes on a class field trip to the apple orchard on her first day of school in America, it shows students that being different can make life beautiful. The book would be a great Social Studies or Current Events tie-in!Recorded Books also offers other titles from Bunting, including Jumping the Nail and The Summer of Riley. |

Carl Hiaasen’s Flush was selected for the Dorothy Canfield Fisher Award. The book was picked as the winner by children in grades 4-8 for helping to make them “enthusiastic and discriminating readers.” Hiaasen’s stories are praised for their environmental themes, but kids also love them for their humor.Recorded Books also offers Hiaasen’s Hoot. |
