We’re thrilled to announce that our recording of The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian won the 2009 Odyssey Award for “the best audiobook produced for youth available in English in the United States”! The book, written and narrated by Sherman Alexie, is also the 2007 National Book Award winner (Young People’s Literature) and is also an ABA Book Sense Book of the Year: Children’s Literature Honor Book, AudioFile Earphones Award winner, Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year, and New York Times Notable Children’s Book of the Year.
Also, a personal favorite of mine, Waiting for Normal, has been named as the Schneider Family Award winner for middle school for children’s books that best embody the disability experience. The book is also a School Library Journal Best Book of the Year. You can listen to and download an audio excerpt of the book here, plus get a free worksheet to use with the book. Also, I must say that I love what designer Joie Simmons did for the cover of this audiobook. The girl is exactly how I pictured Addie!
